Cardboard Lounger for Cats

I loved the cardboard furniture I saw on MocoLoco and then I clicked through to the source and was surprised to find out that it is for cats! Marmalade Pets uses non-toxic adhesives and recycled content. They suggest that their beds "provide a long term solution to scratching, eliminating the need for harmful declawing operations and/or stressful behavioural modification" (or, as in our case, a complete recovering of all of our furniture) Too late for us, but Jasmin, run to ::Marmalade Pets

UPDATE: Justin at Materialicious tells me that Mocoloco found Marmalade Pets at ::Modern Cat. Gotta get the attributions right!

But how is "stuff you don't actually need" eco-friendly?

I see this as needed. I don't see cars as needed but that's my life perhaps not yours.

I'm on the same boat as queervegan. High end fashion isn't necessary either, but I believe that things like that are positive because they provide awareness to people who might not otherwise be interested in eco-friendliness. If people are going to buy things, the things they buy might as well be eco-friendly. It's also good to get the word out that eco isn't necessarily boring or for hippies--it can be as cool as anything out there. another cool eco-pet product is greenrrroof dog dens:

We've got a non-snazzy rectangle of these (probably not same company) and it's their favorite thing. Bed, scratching post, plaything, sprinkle some catnip over it and it will stick in the cracks forever.
Downside is the bits of shredded cardboard always covering the living room floor.

ruth, we have one of those. I choked at the $10 cost (its is after all just layers of cardboard glued together), but its used non-stop by our 5 cats so when its time to replace it I'll probably get another one.

I looked at the 2 models above, and from Amazon they are in the $150+ range. Again - its cardboard glued together. A bit too steep for what it is.
